Shannon had challenged us that if we got tagged, we had to sit like a chicken in the 'nest' and pretend to lay an egg. We tried not to get tagged but we also enjoyed being the chicken.
We are learning to move in different ways at Get, Set, Go. We wonder what challenge she would have for us next week!
Welcome to our class blog. We are year 3 and 4 students at Ruapotaka School and we enjoy learning and sharing. We are always striving to be "Better Than Before". Visit our blog to see what we are up to!

We are Going to the Zoo
We went to the zoo in a bus! It was so exciting to learn about all the animals. We went to the exotic part of the zoo first with the zoo teacher and then we went to the native area by ourselves. We really wanted to see the big animals and were lucky to find most of them outside. There were big animals, tall animals, busy animals, not so busy animals, small animals and fat animals.
Some of our favourites were giraffes, tigers and tortoises.

Get, Set, Go
What a great surprise we had today. Sharon from Get, Set , Go came to take our PE lessons and we didn't know about it until this morning. We were so excited to use different types of equipment- balls, skipping ropes, bean bags, howler, noodle and cones. It was fun to just play with our friends.
We are looking forward to every Thursday now.

Speech Finals
Tulialo, Shayna and Militina represented our class in the speech finals. We are very proud of them. They had to think of a topic, write their speech and learn it. They also had to be brave and stand in front of the audience to deliver their speech.
Congratulations to Tulialo and Shayna for winning 2nd and 3rd place.

Snag Golf continues
We are almost at the end of our Snag Golf lessons and we have learned a lot of new skills. We know how to use the tee, golf putter and the ball to get a 'snag', it is when we hit the center of the target. We also got to play a lot of games.
Class garden
As part of Matariki celebrations, we planted some plants in our garden outside our classroom. We dug, we planted and we watered. We planted a kumara that had been growing on our nature table too. We had to use gloves to keep our hands safe and a shovel to dig. Now we have to look after our plants and we are looking forward to see them flowering too.

Matariki Celebrations
As part of our Matariki studies, we decided to learn to weave with harakeke (flex). We had to prepare the flex first and divide it into sections. It was a challenging but fun activity and we worked in pairs and made plaits.

We are looking forward to doing some exciting activities with other teachers too.
