Look at our models

We have been busy!!
We coiled, we pinched, we rolled, we flattened and we shaped.

Here are our 3D models that we made from jovi modelling clay.

There are ducks, monsters, flowers, dinosaurs, baskets, beds with babies.  We practiced a lot before deciding on our final models.

Class reporters

Our first class reporters

George told us all about how the milk gets from the cow to the shops.  Andrea brought her beautiful Papua New Guinean dress, there was a Papua New Guinean flag on it too, and Liza brought a photo from Rainbows End.  They presented this very confidently to our class and answered questions too!

Show and tell report

Today our class reporter had something interesting to show us.  He brought a kava bowl made of coconut shell and some kava!!  The kava bowl was pretty and the kava was like brown powder.  He told us that his family mixes it water and then they drink it.  He said the tongue feels numb after drinking the kava.

Room 6 is learning to weave!!

We started by making circles and colouring them in different colours using crayons.  It took us a long time to finish all the circles.  Then we started weaving in the black strips of paper.  We went under, then over, then under until we reached the end.  Some of us found this really tricky!!

Our Research Presentation

As part of our inquiry learning, we looked at how goods travel from their original source to our school.  There are four things which we were interested in that come to our school: fruit, uniforms, stationary, and milk.

Fruit in schools

We wrote a letter to Mrs Vickers to find out how fruit comes to our school. We gathered all the information and presented it to our class.

Uniforms
We got our information from Ms Brough who told us that after our uniform gets to school from a factory in East Tamaki, she sends it to the printers to get our school logo.

Milk in schools

We found our information from Fonterra's website.  We watched a video which showed us the steps the milk goes through before we get to drink it.

Stationary
Mrs Vickers told us about the travel of our stationary.

We all had to work very hard on our research and presentations and we learned a lot about how goods travel to our school.
